Trauma Counseling
Hi! I am Ashleigh Merryman (she/her), licensed clinical therapist. I am so happy that you are considering therapy! Whether this is your first time in therapy or you have tried it in the past, welcome! I know for many the idea of beginning therapy can be very daunting, from finding a therapist you mesh well with to unpacking years of old trauma to actually making changes in your life. However, I am here to help you through every step of the process.
I have experience working with clients ages 16 to 55 who may be struggling with anxiety, depression, PTSD/ C-PTSD, and/ or panic attack symptoms. I am passionate about working with individuals who have experienced past trauma, difficulties setting and sticking to boundaries, trouble communicating, identifying as LGBTQIA+, difficulties with life transitions, and/or difficulties with self-esteem. If you feel as though we would be a good fit, but you may not meet these criteria, we could set up a 15 minute consultation appointment. This would be for both of us to further assess if we would be a good match.
As a therapist, I recognize that each individual's journey is unique, and there's no one-size-fits-all approach to healing. I am committed to tailoring my therapeutic methods to suit your specific needs and preferences because I believe you are the expert of your own life. My approach draws from a diverse range of therapeutic modalities, including cognitive-behavioral techniques, dialectical-behavioral techniques, mindfulness, psychodynamic theory, internal-family systems, and trauma-informed care.
I am a strong advocate for ALL individuals, meaning all genders, sexual orientations, races, ethnicities, diagnoses, and beliefs. I strive to create a safe, calm, and honest environment where clients feel they can be their most authentic selves.
